jonathan schork & the schork~munsell studios

painting & photography...

drawing, painting, photography...

jonathan schork started drawing before he could ride a bike. As an adolescent, he proceeded to add oil paints to his drawings & continues to paint in that medium. In 1978, at the behest of old friend & mentor Arthur Satz, jonathan acquired an Olympus om1 camera and started shooting slides in 35mm. In 2004 he briefly dabbled in large-format work with a 1927 Eastman view#1 box camera that was more an exquisite piece of furniture than a piece of studio equipment. Following an assignment at Burning Man in 2009 for DISfunkshion magazine, schork finally entered the 21st century with his first digital camera (though he continues to maintain & use an old Canon eos rebel). Still principally influenced by nature, the greater preponderance of schork's flat arts are macros & landscapes. Most of the images in the slide show are available for purchase; please visit the CONTACT page if you would like to inquire after a specific image.
